What is Retro Bowl?
Retro Bowl is a retro-styled American football game that puts you in the dual role of head coach and offensive coordinator. Built with charming pixel-art visuals inspired by classic sports games of the past, Retro Bowl combines real-time play-calling with off-field team management. The result is a game that is easy to jump into but has genuine depth the longer you play. If you enjoy sports games with a strategic edge, Retro Bowl is well worth your time at Infunx.
Game Rules
Scoring in Retro Bowl
Retro Bowl follows standard American football scoring. Every point you earn on the field also converts into Coaching Credits, which you spend on upgrades between games.
- Touchdown (6 points): Carry or pass the ball into the opponent's end zone.
- Field Goal (3 points): Kick the ball through the uprights from outside the end zone.
- Extra Point (1 point): A short kick attempted immediately after a touchdown.
- Two-Point Conversion (2 points): Run or pass into the end zone as an alternative to the extra point kick.
- Safety (2 points): Tackle the opposing ball-carrier inside their own end zone.
Roster and Team Management
You control the offensive side of the ball directly in Retro Bowl, while your defense operates on automatic simulation. The offensive unit includes a Quarterback (QB), Running Back (RB), Wide Receivers (WR), Tight Ends (TE), and Offensive Linemen (OL). The defensive unit features Defensive Linemen (DL), Linebackers (LB), and Defensive Backs (DB).
Between games, you manage your roster through the Front Office. You can draft, trade, and release players, all within a salary cap of $150 million. Player morale, stamina, and star ratings all affect on-field performance, so keeping tabs on your roster is just as important as calling the right plays.
Season Structure
A Retro Bowl career is built season by season. Each season runs through a series of games with the championship as the ultimate goal. Difficulty settings and game length can be adjusted at any time, and five difficulty modes are available ranging from Easy to the punishing Extreme mode where every opponent plays at a five-star rating.

- Press D to slow your runner down and set up a cut or create separation.
- For field goals and extra points, click when the power meter reaches the right level, then click again to align the direction marker before the kick.
Tips to Win in Retro Bowl
Short passes of 5 to 10 yards are the safest and most consistent way to move the chains. Deep throws are high-risk and should only be attempted when a receiver has clearly beaten coverage with open space ahead. Aim the pass slightly ahead of the receiver rather than directly at them to improve catch rates.
Clock management is one of the most important skills to develop. When holding a lead late in a half, short gains and early dives keep time moving and limit your opponent's chances to respond.
Off the field, invest your Coaching Credits in your Quarterback and Wide Receivers first. These upgrades have the most immediate impact on how smoothly your offense runs. Keep morale high across the roster too since low morale leads to dropped passes and missed throws at the worst moments.
